THE PROLOGUE。
The doubtful Title Gentlemen prefixt Upon the Argument we have in
hand察May breed suspence察and wrongfully disturb The peaceful quiet of
your settled thoughts。 To stop which scruple察let this brief suffice此It is no
pampered glutton we present察 Nor aged Counsellor to youthful sin察 But
one察whose virtue shone above the rest察A valiant Martyr and a virtuous
peer察In whose true faith and loyalty expressed Unto his sovereign察and his
country's weal察 We strive to pay that tribute of our Love察 Your favours
merit。 Let fair Truth be graced察 Since forged invention former time
defaced。
